Through the horizontal light bands and LED-lettering, the underpass creates a strong connection between the city centre and a new arising quarter on the other side of the underpass. The bright and warm white light creates a pleasant feeling and takes away the usual discomfort of underpasses. The slightly angled layout, the bevelled walls, stairs and ramps, as well as the three-dimensional stainless steel profiles refer to the winding alleys of the old quarter of Schwaebisch Gmund. On the contrary, stands the modern interactive lighting concept. The underpass shall combine the old and the new parts of the city.
